Simcha Even-Chen, a ceramist living in Rehovot, Israel, explores questions of inter-space with the creation of porcelain “autonomous objects”. Even-Chen had a 22 year long career as a Senior Scientist at the Medical School, Hebrew University, Jerusalem when she decided to quit and devote herself entirely to art. She exhibits her work internationally and frequently juries international ceramic competitions. Her work deals frequently with tension, between dimensionality, balance, and the expected and unexpected. Her work cannot be separated from her scientific thinking as she explores collapse, motion, and fluidity to lead the viewer to follow their imagination to pursue meaning.
