Akira Takeuchi is a ceramist most known most notably for producing traditional tea-wares, sake cups and bottles. His forms are traditional with bright and varied glazes. Often, he uses Mogusa clay mixed with another clay like Kara or Red clay and used ash, and iron glaze. His work has been shown internationally and continues to be well received for his keen understanding of glaze and form.
