Keiichi Shimizu is a ceramist who is known for both breaking free and respecting tradition. He was born in 1962 and is a fourth generation ceramist from Tanba Tachicki, one of the six historic ceramic centers in Japan. Shimizu regards himself as having broken free from traditional Tanba wares to explore new forms and ideas. He produces work as well as teaching class and workshops in coil building. He has exhibited his work internationally and his geometric and abstracted forms are celebrated in exhibitions and collections across the globe.
