Shinji Suzuki creates striking, sharp ceramics that tend to challenge convention. His approach to making is informed by tradition and his rebellious spirit. The work that comes from this mixture is widely celebrated for its freshness. He was born in the Gifu Prefecture in 1976 and graduated from Tajimi City Pottery Design and Technical Centre in 2000. He built his kiln in Tajimi-City in 2002 and had his first solo Exhibition in Tokyo in 2007. He has continued his career with success and has had solo exhibitions across Japan. Presently, his kiln is in Kanigun, Gifu, Japan where he continues to make work. Suzuki’s work is in collections all over the world and his non-traditional tableware continues to make its mark in contemporary ceramics.
