Young Sik Kim is the hand building and coiling ceramist who runs Joseonyo in Gwaneum-right now. He is an 8th generation owner and the eldest grandson of the oldest pottery making family in Korea. The Mangdaengi porcelain kiln that Young Sik Kim runs has been firing for 170 years and the techniques he uses have been passed down by generation. Most of his work are tea utensils, bowls for matcha, and sets made from clay and glaze from the Mungyeong region. His work, like generations of his family, is celebrated for its simple quality that comes from technical experience and a sincere care for the work.
