Shane Keena is a biomorphic sculpture ceramist with a great attention to detail and reverence for nature. He grew up near the ocean and spent a considerable amount of his childhood wading into tide pools and studying the life-forms in them. Much of his inspiration comes from his experience with marine life but also comes from a wide range of natural imagery, the durian fruit is another cited inspiration of his. In addition to nature, his sculptures are a form of self-portraiture as he explores the self, territoriality, defense mechanisms, and most primarily, vulnerability.
